Flooded with Colors

29 Aug

I realized I haven`t updated

my blog in a while.

It`s not that I haven`t been doing anything.

I have actually been pretty active:

going to a gym 4 days a week,

still doing the same job,

hanging out with friends,

kidnapping a cat from downstairs and playing with him

(only when he can’t go back inside his home

because he is a naughty cat which comes back

home after his master falls asleep, tsk tsk.)

I guess the problem about me not updating my blog

is that I haven’t been taking

many photos recently

and I don’t really like a blog entry

without photos…

but anyways, I feel like I should write about today

because I did something that is

very very JAPANESE…

Do you know this?

It’s called puri-kura (Print club)

and it has been popular since I was about 9 or something.

People used to wait in line for like 6 hours

to get one photo-sticker taken at the booth

but now, the machine isn’t as popular

as it was before.

Well, let me say it right:

it is popular still but there are

abundant of these machines all over the place.

Oh boy, the technology that is

involved in this machine has improved

like thousand-cookie-times more.

When I was little, there was only one shape of sticker

and you only got to pick one frame and that was it.

Now, you can decide the number of the frames

and you can draw on the sticker etc…

Trading the puri-kura stickers

with friends

was such a huge thing among us.

I still have the album with

all the stickers from back then.

(I get embarrassed seeing those. They all look pretty awful.)

Anyways, I took puri-kura for the first time

in the last 2.5 years or so.

The girl on my right is Mallory

who just arrived in Tokyo last night.

Oh man, I can’t believe how energetic

you were after being on a plane

for 13 hours and waking up at 7 AM this morning.

I guess the power of kawaii-ness

works as much as Redbull does.

Hm, what else should I say?

I don’t want to conclude the entry of today

with a line

‘I had such a fun day’

even though  had a so much fun

re-exploring Harajuku-Shibuya area with Mallory.

I guess, instead, I will say

…my brain is now flooded with all the cheerful colors.

Oh, and also…

Mallory wants to be in Japan

and I want to be in NY.

I wonder if there is any good trick

we could use to fulfill both of our wish.
